The Independent General Practice is Wales’ only exclusively private full time GP and Occupational Health Practice. Occupational Health provided by The Independent General Practice differs from traditional Occupational Health provision in one extremely important way. Because the IGP are private GP’s as well as Occupational Health advisors, we can, with the consent of both employer and employee, treat as well as advise. This innovative, two dimensional approach has significant benefits for all parties.

Established in August 2004 by Dr Joanna Longstaffe, the practice has experienced rapid growth and now operates from two surgeries in Cardiff, one in Swansea and one in Newport. We have ten doctors, 5 male and 5 female; as well as nursing and back up staff. In addition, our new “super-surgery” is now open at Cardiff Gate Business Park, which will incorporate five consulting rooms, minor surgery and physiotherapy / rehabilitation facilities.
